life, lately march 2016I think it’s nice to find out about the person behind the words and I love to connect with you lovely people who read my blog! So I thought I’d do a little catch up with what I’ve been watching, feeling, planning, dreaming and grateful for lately. Please leave me a comment as I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to lately.

Listening

One of my favourite writers Shawn Fink of the Abundant Mama Project has a series of podcasts called AMPlify Your Life. She describes them as ‘a podcast offering inspiration for modern women seeking calm wisdom & simple clarity in this crazy, overwhelming world of distractions, raising children and being human’. I’m finding them really inspiring and full of great tips on being an abundant mama.

Watching

A new series of  one of my favourite shows has just started  – Masterchef. I had a lovely surprise the other night when I saw it coming on as I didn’t even know there was a new series. There are some fantastic contestants so far and I just love seeing what they’re going to cook… and I can’t help laughing at some of them whose hands shake terribly with nerves!

Making

I’ve been decorating Easter eggs with the kids. My son had an egg decorating competition at school and my daughter wanted to do one too so we had fun decorating them and sticking pompoms on them! You can see the results on my Instagram.

Loving

All the little moments of joy. Since my realisation that life is all about the little moments of joy, I’ve been noticing and appreciating each one more and more. I’m no longer striving for constant happiness  because I know the moments of joy as what make us truly happy.

Reading

May Cause Miracles by Gabrielle Bernstein is not your average self-help book . It’s a 6 week course with different exercises, affirmations and meditations to do every day. It’s all about turning fear into love which if I’m honest I’m finding pretty challenging (I find it hard to acknowledge my fears!) I’m only on day 8 but I’m feeling good about the process of becomng aware of and challenging my fears. In between doing this I’ve just finished The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s an easy read with a powerful and thought provoking message of following our dreams and treating life as a big adventure.

When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.

Eating

Easter eggs of course! Yes I’m a complete chocaholic but even I admit I’ve eaten an obscene about of chocolate over the past few days. I only got one Easter egg but my daughter is a very good sharer and likes to literally shove chocolate in my mouth!

Planning

It’s the Easter holidays and I’m having the second week off work with my son and daughter. I’m also looking after my nieces for couple of days so I’m planning a few fun days out and adventures that we can have.

Believing

I’m trying hard to believe in myself. My guiding word for 2016 is ‘believe’ but recently I’ve been struggling wth my self-belief and focussing too much on the ‘what ifs’ which I know is not where I want to be. I need to keep my word in mind and remember the reasons I chose it as my guiding word.

Dreaming

I’ve finally got round to booking our holiday and I’m counting down the weeks. We’re going to a lovely little town in North Wales and are staying right by the sea.  It’s really important for me to get away and a change of scenery always seems to recharge my energy levels. I love having something to look forward to and every time I think about it I feel excited!

Grateful

For my amazing boyfriend. He’s the most kind, caring, funniest big-hearted person and I’m so blessed to have him in my life.

How’s your life been lately? I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to.

what i'm grateful for this week

I loved writing the post earlier this week about ‘The Amazing Power of Gratitude‘. It reminded me once again of the importance of counting our blessings. When it comes to gratitude journalling I’ll admit I’m not as consistant as I should be, but I always sit down at least once a week and write down a list of everything I’m grateful for. I thought I’d share this week’s list with you..

I’m grateful for…

My beautiful children are always top of my list! The highlight of my day is their bedtime, when we all think of something that has made us happy or grateful that day.

My parents for offering to babysit a couple of days before Valentines Day so my chap and I can go out for a romantic meal.

My little kitty Bob hasn’t been very well this week but the vet’s given him the all clear and he’s on the mend.

I’m grateful for my fella for sorting out everything when my website was hacked… he’s like my own personal webmaster!

My daughter has been selected for her class’ achievement assembly next week. I got an invitation to go and watch and the reason for her being chosen is ‘her great knowledge of the skeleton’! I can’t wait to go and have my proud mummy moment.

My son had an accident earlier today which resulted in a big nosebleed. He’s absolutely fine but was really shaken up. I’m incredibly grateful that he’s alright now and that his teeth weren’t damaged!

I’m grateful for my new coat which is keeping me so warm and dry on the school run every day.

My sister asked me to join Slimming World with her a few weeks ago. I wasn’t really feeling motivated about it but I agreed because I wanted to support her. Now I’m so grateful that I joined as I’ve lost 6.5lbs so far and feel so much better for eating healthily. I’ve tried lots of new recipes which have gone down well with the family too.

Every day when I walk to school to pick up my children, I have to walk up a very steep hill. To say I’m knackered at the top is an understatement! However I use this hill to state all the things about my body that I’m grateful for… my heart, my lungs, my muscles, my brain, my legs, my eyes, my hearing. I keep my attention on the present moment and instead of thinking about being unfit and out of breath, I focus on all the amazing things my body is doing right at that moment.

I’m so grateful for this journey of self development that I’m on. I’ve learned so much about myself especially how to manage my negative emotions. I’m a much calmer, peaceful person than I was just two years ago.

What are you grateful for this week?

Life, Lately

I’ve always liked reading ‘Life, lately’ posts, they bring out the nosy parker in me. So I thought I’d share a little peek into my life every now and then. Here’s what my life looks like lately…

Photographing… the snow. I woke up to the scene above on Sunday morning. As the seasons change it makes me even more grateful for living where I do. I love looking out of the window and feeling like I’m in the countryside (when actually I live very close to the town!)

ReadingThe Little Book of Peace by Cherry Menlove. This self help book feels like it was written especially for me. There are 101 short chapters that cover everything you can think of to bring more peace into your life. I can’t put it down.

Cooking… lots of healthy but comforting food as I’ve just joined Slimming World. I just made mashed potato pizza (yes really!) and actually loved it.

Watching… comedies. The fella loves comedies especially anything starring Will Ferrell so we’ve been watching some of his films. Last night was ‘Anchorman’… totally ridiculous but absolutely hilarious. Laughter really is the best medicine!

Listening toFree to Flourish radio. In these weekly podcasts by Gemma Sands, she chats about heart-led living and how to live your best life. Truly thought provoking and inspirational listening.

Making… milky decaf coffee. I didn’t drink coffee until I was 30, but I can’t live without it now. I switched to decaf last year and have seen some amazing benefits to my health, like fewer headaches and better sleep.

Planning… ideas for blog posts. I have so much I want to share with you about how to live a happier and more peaceful life. I also want to start designing my first e-course.

Believing… that my website is going to be a huge success and will help and inspire lots of lovely people.

Dreaming… of spring! I can’t wait until the days are lighter and warmer. I just love seeing everything blooming and growing, the leaves budding on the trees and everything coming back to life. It’s my favourite season.

Loving… my fella for being generally amazing but especially for setting up my website and then sorting everything out when it got hacked!

Learning… about the importance of securing your website and choosing an appropriate password!

Grateful… for my family. We all went out for lovely family meal to celebrate my dad’s 66th birthday yesterday. We’re a family who loves to eat so that’s our favourite way to celebrate!

How’s your life been lately? I’d love to hear what you’ve been up to.
